Nowhere in Jewish writings does it say that the Flood was a result of homosexual marriage. There may be a passage that says that such contracts existed (I don't know gemara by heart), and even that attributes the Flood in part to such practices, but it is not a universal Jewish consensus.
The Talmud is very specific that Sodom and Gemorrah were not destroyed because of homosexuality, but because of inhospitality to strangers. The Torah is very clear in repeated references that people should be kind to strangers in their midst, not treat them as subhumans or with prejudice. That is why the towns were destroyed.
No one is insisting that churches perform gay marriages, though some churches already openly embrace them. All society is (finally) saying is that if two people are willing to commit to one another, they should get the same government benefits as those who - through no doing of their own - were born straight. Sanctification is a term of holiness. Only a religious institution (a church, a synagogue, etc) can sanctify a marriage. All the government does - in this secular nation - is convey tax breaks and protect bereavement rights. They are totally different things.
If the government started to award a medal of sainthood, would you accept that the people who received that medal were saints? Of course not. Only the church can bestow sainthood. The sanctity of marriage rests between the leaders of the church and their members, and between the married couple and G-d.
