You read it right -- these ten patriotic quotes are to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, an often misunderstood holiday. Many Americans do not understand the significance of the holiday. Many believe it is strictly a Mexican affair. I'm here to tell you that Cinco De Mayo should be celebrated by Americans too!

Are you patriotic? If so, why?
If so, what do you think of your nations bloodthirsty past? (Unless you come from a tiny island, then you will have one). I'm British, and so my nation has an especially brutal history. Do you think that because this was many generations ago, it is no longer relevant?
Well, for me it is a moot point anyway. I don't care about national borders, but of people as a whole. We are all genetically almost identical, and I strongly feel that no culture or people is superior to another. Therefore, if some accomplishment is made by a particular nation (e.g., an advance in science, a sporting triumph, a successful expedition), then I see it as a global victory, not a national one.
Many will no doubt disagree. This question was prompted by the abundance of BNP supporters in this section. So if you are patriotic - why is this?
I'm interested to hear any opinions.
Well I'm Northern Irish and I can agree on some aspects of what your saying but I do feel a strong tie to the place of my birth, my upbringing and my life as a whole.
History isn't important to me (unless i'm conversing with some Americans!!!) and I don't hold the Germans for example over the Wars, it's just stupid.
I personally hate the BNP, i've seen the videos and for open minded people like me, it's disgusting!!!!!
